HUNTSVILLE- Alabama Homeland Security Director Jim Walker will officially distribute new homeland security equipment to North Alabama law enforcement Thursday. The Region 6 Law Enforcement Team includes representatives from Blount, Cherokee, Cullman, DeKalb, Jackson, Lawrence, Madison, Marshall and Morgan Counties.
Director Walker will be joined by Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning and law enforcement officials from the various counties. The new equipment includes a trailer, generator, response vehicles and portable light sets. The new equipment as well as previously purchased homeland security equipment will be on display.
The Region 6 Law Enforcement team consists of more than 155 members. This team not only responds to disasters affecting their area, but those occurring in surrounding counties and statewide.
The recently purchased equipment was used with Fiscal Year 2007 Homeland Security Grant funding.
